Getting to Know Groveport, OH
The City of Groveport has a population of 5,363 people.
Another suburb of the City of Columbus, Groveport has a total area of a little less than nine square miles; it was the home of the historic horse expert, John Solomon Rarey, who earned acclaim during the 19th-century when he developed the well-known “Rarey Technique” for rehabbing horses.
In 1846, Groveport had its roots as a single entity, when then rivaling towns Wert’s Grove and Rareysport ended up merging together. Since 1847, a post office with the name Groveport has been in operation. The city houses the historic Groveport Log House, which was constructed in 1815. In 1974, it was moved to its current location near the Groveport Cemetery.
Because of the city’s proximity to the Air National Guard Base and Rickenbacker International Airport, several large corporations have made their headquarters or a significant part of their operations in Groveport, stimulating the local economy. Among these many major companies, there is Amazon.com, Eddie Bauer, Gap, Spiegel Brands, FedEx, American Electric Power, and VistaPrint. Among the many things to do in Groveport, residents and visitors enjoy the Alum Creek bike trail, Three Creeks Metro Park, Motts Military Museum, Groveport Aquatics Center, and Walnut Woods Metro Park.

I completed the service maintenance agreement tune up on a Carrier gas furnace. I visually inspected the unit. I cleaned the flame sensor. Checked voltages, amps and pressures. Noted that the ohms for the ignitor are high. Completed combustion analysis. Cycled and monitored system. Operating normally at this time.

Upon inspection, I found the furnace tripped the breaker due to a blown capacitor that was caused by a dirty filter. Customer approved replacement of capacitor. I advised customer to check and replace filter more regularly. System is operational upon departure.

I completed the service maintenance agreement tune up on a Carrier heat pump with a Five Star electric air handler. I visually inspected the furnace. Checked voltages, amps and temperature rise. Inspected heat pump. Determined that the defrost sensor had ice on it. Removed ice from sensor. Checked voltages and amps. Cycled and monitored both systems. Operating normally at this time.

I completed a diagnostic on a Lennox heat pump with an electric furnace. Determined that the thermostat was not wired correctly. Auxiliary heat was not connected at the air handler. I switched the wiring at the thermostat. Cycled and monitored the system. Operating normally at this time.

I completed a diagnostic on a Bryant gas furnace. Determined that the ignitor was bad. I gave the client an estimate to replace the ignitor. Client authorized repairs. I replaced the ignitor. I cleaned the condensate trap and the flame sensor. Cycled and monitored the system. Operating normally at this time.

I found the system to be overheating due to the furnace being oversized for the home. I informed the customer of my findings and that the only real solution is to replace the system. I told the customer I can adjust the gas pressure to help elongate the cycles of the furnace, but it will still overheat eventually. Customer has heat and would like to consider options. System is operational upon departure.
